Why not share your Excel as a catalog
A spreadsheet has no attractive photos, doesn't look good on a phone, and doesn't let the customer build an order. Plus, every time you send it you create a copy that goes stale as soon as you change a price.
A digital catalog takes that same information and presents it as a store: with photos, categories, variants, and a cart, at a link that always shows the current version.
Prepare your sheet before importing
Spend a few minutes tidying your sheet. Use one row per product and one column per field. Vallen's importer recognizes the columns nombre (name), descripcion, precio (price), precio_anterior (compare-at price, to show discounts), sku, stock, and categoria, and you can download a sample template from the dashboard. Make sure prices are only numbers, with no currency symbols, and that names are clear to customers, not internal codes.
Remove empty rows, discontinued products, and duplicates. A clean sheet imports without errors.
- One row per product
- A name column that's clear to customers
- A price column with numbers only
- Optional columns: description, compare-at price, SKU, stock, and category
- No empty rows or duplicates
Export to CSV
CSV is a text file with data separated by commas or semicolons. Every spreadsheet app can save it. In Excel use 'Save as' and choose CSV; in Google Sheets go to 'File', 'Download', and choose 'Comma-separated values'.
Don't worry if your Excel uses semicolons as the separator, which is common with Spanish-language settings: Vallen's importer recognizes both formats.
Import your products into Vallen
From the products section of your dashboard, use the CSV import option, select your file, and review the preview before confirming. Rows with errors are flagged so you can fix them, and valid products are created with all their data in seconds.
Keep your plan's limit in mind: the Starter plan allows up to 20 products and the Growth plan is unlimited. The importer warns you beforehand if your file exceeds the limit.
Complete photos, categories, and variants
The import creates the base of your products, but photos and variants are added afterward from each product's editor. Check that each product landed in the right category and add variants like size or color, each with its own photo.
It's also a good time to improve descriptions: what worked in your tracking sheet isn't always what convinces a customer.
Keep your catalog as the main source
Once published, update prices and stock directly in your catalog, not in the sheet. That way customers always see the correct information and you don't have to keep two versions in sync.
If you get a new list from a supplier, you can repeat the import with just the new products.
Your Excel sheet already has half the work done. Importing it into a digital catalog saves you hours of data entry and lets you focus on the photos and descriptions that actually sell.
Clean up your sheet, export it to CSV, and import it. In one afternoon you can have your full catalog online.
